A&B: The Plot Continues
On choosing (and changing) the story over and over again
There’s a pattern I’ve been noticing in my life lately. In the friendships I keep, in the readings I give, even in the framework I keep yapping about here and anywhere you’ll listen.
It is so important to be coherent. To walk the talk. To do exactly what you say you’re going to do, and to keep the promises you make to yourself. And I’ll admit, I haven’t always been the best at that. Especially this past winter.
But Spring is here, and I’m taking it as the real beginning of the year. I’m emerging once more from what I suspect was seasonal depression (and existential overwhelm), with ideas and a quiet remembrance that my life moves in seasons. And that it’s only ever as good as the story I tell myself. The story I tell others.
So this spring, this April, I want to reintroduce myself to you. Because it’s almost been a year since I started this Substack, and a few things have changed, while others have simply expanded.
My name is Daniela, and I’m the founder of Lunaria Design Studio. I’ve been the spiritual friend in every room for as long as I can remember, but only in the past year have I fully woven that into my work. I collect patterns in astrology (and beyond) and turn them into practical steps you can actually take and visuals that speak to you.
I’m the daughter and granddaughter of immigrants, and somehow ended up living what feels like the best-case scenario, moving back to my family’s ancestral home in Spain twelve years ago, after growing up between South Florida and Venezuela.
Ping-ponging between cultures has shaped me. Embracing the hard-working, survive-against-all-odds, multi-cultural multiverse that lives deep in my DNA has been a journey in itself.
Now, I split my time between Coruña and New York, because I believe life is more exciting when you get to have the best of both worlds. I speak both English and Spanish, and I’m convinced my real talent isn’t design, but learning languages (and song lyrics) unreasonably fast.
I love to draw, to read, to notice things like the way every place has its own light. Flowers (and learning their meanings). Making soups that remind me of all the places I’ve called home. And lately, I adore doing things that feel slightly out of character, just to see who I become on the other side.
My life hasn’t always been easy. At times, it’s felt like an insurmountable task to move on from the latest hurt. But a few years ago, I made the decision that I wouldn’t let that define me. That my story would be one of light. Of color. Not of survival, but of beauty.
And that’s why I’m writing this to you now.
Because I don’t want to forget that, for a brief moment in the first quarter of 2026, I felt… bleh.
And then, one soft spring Saturday, I remembered the story. My story.
And that I didn’t need to know what my year was going to be like, or what would happen, or when it would. I just needed to take one step, so the plot could continue.
I’m watching — A weird but fun array of shows
I just finished my Throne of Glass re-read, and after being immersed in that world for two months, I’m swapping reading for watching while I figure out what’s next.
I’ve been loving Season 2 of The Pitt, watching Steve Carell in Rooster, Shrinking, and I’m fully into The Madison (who knew I’d love a western about grief?). I’m also finally going to start Bridgerton Season 4. More on that later.
I’m singing to — Almost exclusively the new Harry Styles album
I’m really excited for when Spotify Wrapped inevitably calls me out for the day I listened to Coming Up Roses 120 times (maybe more). Needless to say, the wait was worth it.
I’m loving — Doing things out of character
Re: so much of who we are is simply a story we tell ourselves. And one I’m actively rewriting is the idea that I’m not athletic or “good” at anything sporty.
After days of getting the download to get strong, I finally joined a boxing class… and loved it? I’m excited to see where this little side quest takes me, and how mixing it with Pilates makes me feel over this trial month.
